Hockey rom-coms on my shelf (from a Minnesota reader)

October 2026. From Lucy's own shelf.

I live in Minnesota, where hockey is basically a personality trait, so of course hockey romance has a spot on my shelf. Here's what I've read, from college rinks to the pros, and who each one is for.

College hockey

  • Cover of Icebreaker
    Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

A figure skater and a hockey captain are forced to share the same rink after a scheduling disaster. Rivals with a very sweet hero, and one of the books that made hockey romance huge.

The pros

  • Cover of The Au Pair Affair
The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey

Tallulah, a broke marine biology grad student, becomes the live-in nanny for the tween daughter of Burgess, a battle-scarred hockey veteran and newly single dad. Grumpy single dad, forced proximity, and a hero who falls first.

  • Cover of Dream Girl Drama
Dream Girl Drama by Tessa BaileyLucy rated it 5 stars

Hockey player Sig meets Chloe, a free-spirited harpist, and it's instant chemistry, right up until they realize their parents are engaged. Forbidden, funny, and a five-star read for me.

  • Cover of Pucking Around
    Pucking Around by Emily Rath

A sports medicine specialist joins a pro hockey team's staff and ends up at the center of a found family that becomes something more. A why-choose romance, and very spicy.

Quick answers

Where should I start with hockey romance?

Icebreaker by Hannah Grace if you want college hockey, or The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey if you want the pros and a single dad.

Is there a forbidden hockey romance?

Dream Girl Drama by Tessa Bailey: a hockey player and a harpist find out their parents are engaged.

Are there hockey romances with a single dad?

The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey, about a hockey veteran and his daughter's live-in nanny.

These are books I've actually read, with the star ratings from my own reading log. No sponsorships, no affiliate links, just my shelf. Ratings are on a five-star scale.

My own debut isn't a hockey book (it's a wedding rom-com), but it is very Midwest. Sneak peeks go to my newsletter first.
